Basalt Infrastructure establishes Vanadis LNG with the acquisition of two operational LNG carriers

Basalt Infrastructure Partners announces signing of agreement to acquire two operational LNG Carriers

Funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners (“Basalt”) announced today that an agreement has been signed to acquire two modern operational LNG carriers, seeding Vanadis LNG (“Vanadis”), a portfolio of LNG vessels.

The transaction represents the acquisition of two modern operational LNG carriers, which are chartered on long-term, fixed-rate, time charter contracts with investment grade counterparties active within the production, sale and distribution of LNG. The vessels were built by one of the world’s leading shipyards, and operate with the latest, most fuel-efficient propulsion technology on the market. The vessels are managed and operated by Basalt’s existing operating partner in its Freyja LNG platform.

In addition to the acquisition of these vessels Basalt is working on a significant pipeline of follow-on opportunities, aiming to build a larger portfolio of operating and new build vessels over the coming months.

“We are delighted to build upon the success of our Freyja LNG platform with the establishment of Vanadis LNG” stated John Hanna, Partner and Head of Europe at Basalt. “LNG continues to play a key role in the global energy mix and we look forward to continuing to service the growing level of demand that presents as we further grow this platform.”
